Increasing functionality and creating a more open-concept space were must-haves for these homeowners. To achieve this, we decided to take the cabinetry to the ceiling and add taller wall cabinets to increase storage space. Another request was to replace the existing range with a separate cooktop and oven. This replacement presented us with a bit of a design challenge, as we didn’t want to take up any of the existing cabinet space. To solve this, we added a new run of cabinets on an unused wall – this provided room for the wall oven they desired, and as a bonus, this allowed us to add more pantry/drawer space without cutting down on perimeter counter space.
